One confirmed hepatitis C infection in ongoing investigation of Tulsa dentist

Tulsa, Okla.—Epidemiological investigators at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed one event of patient-to-patient transmission of hepatitis C virus among the patients of a dentist under investigation for alleged infection control violations.

New privacy practice notices required

Washington—Model Notices of Privacy Practices are available from
the U.S. Office for Civil Rights for use by HIPAA-covered health care
providers and health plans. Most covered entity dental practices must
provide notices explaining how the practice may use and disclose patient
information and some of the rights patients have to control their
information.

ACA: Status of marketplace implementation

The “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” shorthanded as the ACA and as this series of reports will refer to it, has the potential to reshape health care in America. Expansion of medical insurance coverage, a move toward more integrated care delivery and significant changes in the financing of health care are among the expectations of ACA legislators and regulators.
