International volunteer nomination deadline April 1

There’s still time to nominate an international volunteer for the 2011 Certificate for International Volunteer Service. Dental society officers and dental school deans must submit nomination materials by April 1 to the ADA Division of Global Affairs.

Hyattsville, Md.—Children in nuclear families were less likely than children in nonnuclear families to have gone without needed dental care due to cost in the past 12 months, according to data on family structure and children’s health from the National Health Interview Survey.

VA offers free screenings for veterans, cites ‘potential lapses in infection control procedures’

Dayton, Ohio—The Dayton VA Medical Center is notifying 535 veterans of eligibility for free screenings for possible infections from what the Department of Veterans Affairs describes as “potential lapses in infection control procedures that occurred in the dental clinic from Jan. 1, 1992 through July 28, 2010.”
